Golden Globes Make-Up Looks

Stuck for a little new year’s make-up inspiration? Take a peek at some of my favourite beauty looks from last night’s Golden Globe Awards - from pretty to sexy, natural to full-on glamour, there’s a style to suit everyone…

Jessica Alba’s was my most loved look of the night with her statement orange lipstick. Going for a bolder shade of lipstick is a great way to update your make-up look for the new year.image

Anne Hathaway complemented her short hairstyle with a very feminine make-up look - fluttery lashes, rosy cheeks and candy coloured lips.image

Michelle Dockery’s brown smokey eyes looked really striking against her pale skin. The look was kept subtle with glossy, bronze lips.image

Amanda Seyfried looked youthful and pretty with this natural make-up look using neutral tones.

Jennifer Lopez went for a very sexy look, with glowing skin and dramatic feline eyes, teamed with a nude lip.image

Jessica Chastain’s look was chic but eye-catching, teaming subtley defined eyes with a raspberry lip that contrasted with the colour of her dress.image

Naomi Watts opted for grown up glamour with this simple but very elegant beauty look, pairing subtle metallic eyes with rosy lips.

Some new beauty work from a great shoot I did a little while back. The main focus of the shoot was on getting some macro beauty shots but we also did some full face shots.

This make-up was quite a last minute idea that was shot right at the end of the day. We had done lots of stuff with bright colours throughout the shoot and wanted to do something darker and more dramatic in contrast, so I created this look featuring glossy black and silver eyes and lips.

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation Review

I bought this foundation as a bit of an impulse buy as I was running out of my normal foundation and just needed something to get me through the week, but I have to say I’ve been very impressed with it!

I do need my foundations to be hard-wearing as I can often be out of the house for 15 hours at a time (sometimes longer) with little time to touch up my make-up throughout the day. So when I finally got home after the first day of wearing it, I was really pleased to see that it had stayed put and had not gone flaky or patchy.

The foundation goes on smoothly and evenly, and gives you enough time to blend into your skin before drying to a matte finish that won’t budge! It doesn’t give a completely poreless look and you can still see skin texture, which is fine for my skin as it keeps it looking fairly natural, but for people with deep pores or raised texture on their skin that might be an issue.

The main problem with this foundation is the lack of shades available. I bought the lightest shade which was a great match for my skin tone but I don’t consider myself to be particularly pale. People with very fair or very dark skin are not catered for at all. The majority of clients I work on are very fair skinned so this eliminates the potential for me to use this foundation on them.

Overall I really do like this foundation and would have no problem in recommending it to other people, and I’m sure I will be buying again in the future. The packaging and design is sleek and it gives good, long-lasting coverage. Couldn’t really ask for more from a drug store foundation!

The new Illamasqua collection Human Fundamentalism is now available to pre-order.

Alex Box has once again created stunning make-up looks to go with the collection, which true to Illamasqua’s philosophy is all about expressing your alter ego, and not being afraid to show individuality through the way you look.

This is my favourite look from the new collection - Inverse Marilyn Monroe.
